Although the oil trays are relatively simple things to make they do take a fair bit of work/time to complete and some bits are very small which doesn't help matters. Well not when doing them with my big hands at least. The first picture shows a length

This section will contain a number of things, for example, new items obtained and that is where I shall begin. I received some new goodies yesterday which arrived from Adam (Cro fittings) . These consist of the Wakefield No.7 mechanical lubricators and the Gresley manifold, both to scale. Lubricators first,

The next step was to get a little paint onto the parts made to date, as far as the body was concerned this just involved primer and a little satin black, the chassis was painted and lined but this was a little later. First all the bits and pieces had

Next on the list (it's a very long exhaustive list) was to do the doors for the tender, in this case the doors that connect to the cab doors when the locomotive is in service. These are not covered in Don's drawings and thus I did

The beading is an interesting subject, I have seen a number of ways of doing this from others. In this case I have used some of those ideas and also my own but at the end of the day, there's many ways to skin a cat. I did

I then tackled the two locker doors, which were nicely laser cut. The hinges were fabricated with strips of brass that had copper tube soldered to them ready to be cut up for making into individual hinges. One piece is the same thickness as the doors with the tube soldered

There is a lot of detail on this model, much is covered in Don's drawings but there is also what I'd call 'super detail' which I have added. It's not possible to cover all of this in one section and thus this

These are large pieces of brass and care needs to be taken when forming them as any buckle or deformation will show up very easily on a flat panel of this size. The time consuming part of sawing/filing, I don't need to worry about as they are

Don suggested fabricating the water filler tube using copper tube, I had none of the correct size, I did however have some brass billet, a bit wasteful perhaps but at least I could get on with it. With the billet held in the 3 jaw, i faced off and then
